Disimparando

2019

The collection is born from my present in Italy, where the knowledge learned in my life until now, had to give way to new ones, therefore the name “Disimparando”, which in Italian means unlearning.

A beginning and an end; exactly as Mexican artisans do when weaving fabrics for their traditional garments. These fabrics are customized with a line that means death and life.

For artisans, each fabric has a life of its own, a story to tell, that is why, when making their traditional garments, they do not cut and there is no waste, they create folds to make the curved parts of the body. For me it was important to respect the “history” of each fabric used in my collection, respecting and using the traditions of the indigenous Mexicans who are part of my “heritage”. Therefore, my garments are born in a geometric form to become dresses that can unfold and return to be a geometric shape. A cycle without end.
